What is it | Gardens nestled on the hills of Wellington, offering a variety of plantlife to behold and a unique combination of surrounding features. |
Main attractions | Walking paths, cable car, rose garden, stage area for concerts and other events. |
Psychedelic merit | The “Botans” quickly became my favorite place to wander for a number of reasons. Of course, the plantlife is spectacular, and there’s something magical about walking down a dark trail late at night, with a constellation of glowworms lighting the mossy hill beside you, and with the lower portion including a cemetery of glorious gravestones right next to an irreverent freeway and office buildings. The best of all, though, was The Trippy Tree. An oddly cylindrical specimen with branches that were too perfect not to climb, and too comfortable not to lay upon the top and take in views of Southern skies, the harbor and city below, and the lights of cozy homes dotting the surrounding hills. Without question, it’s the finest place I’ve ever smoked. |
Comments | Be prepared for all manner of weather within the span of a couple hours, and set aside enough time to get utterly lost. |
